Coffee • Art • Strings • Craft

McDonald Creative Ventures is a family-run studio where coffee-inspired art and handcrafted string instruments come together through a shared love of craftsmanship, curiosity, and warmth.

What we create takes shape in two main ways. On one side, we make coffee-inspired artwork filled with comfort, animals, personality, and everyday ritual. On the other, we build, repair, and restore stringed instruments with care, precision, and respect for traditional craft.

At first glance, those worlds may seem different. To us, they come from the same place: a belief that beautiful things should be thoughtfully made, deeply understood, and full of life.

Our Story

I grew up loving to draw, but my professional path led into engineering — chemical, bio, and systems. That technical background shaped how I see the world: through materials, structure, process, performance, and the “why” behind how things work.

Later, drawing with my daughter rekindled the creative side of me in a new way. What began as shared sketching time grew into whimsical artwork inspired by coffee, animals, and the warmth of everyday moments. That became the foundation of the coffee-art side of McDonald Creative Ventures.

At the same time, my long-standing love of instruments, woodworking, and careful handcraft continued to grow into McDonald String Instrument and Guitar Workshop — a place for building, restoring, and maintaining violins, guitars, and related instruments with precision and respect for tradition.

What connects both sides of the business is simple: I believe good work should be thoughtful, well made, and deeply human.

The Heart of the Studio

McDonald Creative Ventures lives at the intersection of art, engineering, and craft.

The coffee-art side of the studio reflects warmth, humor, comfort, and curiosity. The workshop reflects structure, acoustics, restoration, woodworking, and careful problem-solving. One is playful and inviting; the other is disciplined and exacting. Both are rooted in the same philosophy:

Make things with care, understand the materials deeply, and create work that feels alive.

Coffee Art, Warmth, and Curiosity

Our coffee-inspired art is built around comfort and character.

From cozy animal illustrations to coffee-themed prints and educational visuals, this side of the studio is meant to feel welcoming, warm, and a little playful. Some pieces celebrate the emotional side of coffee — quiet mornings, favorite mugs, familiar rituals. Others explore the technical side: coffee chemistry, extraction, roast development, and the science behind a better cup.

That mix of feeling and understanding matters to us. Coffee is both sensory and scientific. Art can be both beautiful and informative. We love making work that invites people to smile, think, and look closer.

Whether it ends up on a wall, a mug, a shirt, or in a café, we want each piece to carry a sense of warmth and personality.

McDonald String Instrument and Guitar Workshop

The workshop side of the business is grounded in craftsmanship, restoration, and long-term care.

We work on stringed instruments with an emphasis on thoughtful construction, repair integrity, and respect for the instrument’s voice. That includes custom work, maintenance, repairs, and restoration for violins, guitars, and related instruments.

My engineering background influences this work every day — not by replacing tradition, but by helping me understand it more deeply. Materials matter. Geometry matters. Varnish matters. Structure matters. Small changes can affect sound, feel, longevity, and beauty.

In the workshop, I bring together careful hand skills, traditional methods, and a systems mindset to make instruments that play well, age well, and deserve to be kept.

Why These Worlds Belong Together

Art and instrument making may appear different on the surface, but both ask the same questions:

How does material behave?
What makes an object feel alive?
How do form and function support each other?
How do you make something that people want to keep?

A print, a mug, a violin, a guitar, a restored instrument, a custom commission — each one is ultimately about connection.

Connection to daily ritual.
Connection to music.
Connection to family.
Connection to craft.

That is the foundation of McDonald Creative Ventures.
